Don’t Give Government More to Do

To my reform-minded (as opposed to abolition-minded) friends, please stop trying to make statism ‘better’ and work on making it smaller and weaker. Your goals of replacing the state’s current systems of plunder and redistribution with different systems of plunder and redistribution are not helpful.

The FairTax folks may succeed in creating a new multi-trillion dollar consumption tax, but it won’t replace the income tax, it will only compound its harm.

The UBI folks may indeed see their efforts rewarded with the creation of the most expensive entitlement program the world has ever seen, but it won’t replace the welfare state, it will only put it on steroids.

The state is evil because it plunders, kidnaps, cages, and kills people. The last thing we need is more ways for it to hurt us. Repeal, don’t replace. Everything the state does is harmful. Please don’t give it more to do.
