On Statesmen

A seemingly respectable politician is often referred to as a “statesmen” and held in high regard by both their peers and the public at large. Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Adams, and Lincoln were Statesmen with a capital S. In my view, statesmen are some of the worst type of statists.

Inside the Moderate Mind

A progressive immigration activist recently told me that every election year, moderate Democrats urge him to shut up.  Moderate Democrats clearly consider immigration a losing issue.  But according to my source, they’re also quite self-righteous about their shushing.  Which makes me wonder: What’s going on inside the mind of the moderate Democrat?

On Equal Rights

Many a pundit and protestor demand equal rights for their various interested groups. I applaud and support such efforts on the basis that I too demand equal rights, for everyone. Where they misstep, I believe, is in their failure to distinguish groups from individuals.

On Gender Expression II

I hold no issue with or bigotry toward anyone expressing themselves however they see fit. I think it’s important that each of us find a way to be comfortable in our own skin. You do you, and I’ll do me. Human expression is beautifully diverse. I also think it’s important that each of us are honest with ourselves and others about what we are.

One ideological battle “raging” today is centered around the idea of gender. Some say human gender is binary, male and female. Others say human gender is non-binary, that there are many genders among human beings. Personally, I see nothing wrong with the following: human gender is binary, male and female; but gender expression is varied and fluid.
