Words Poorly Used #120 — Change

You can change a diaper, but it’s still the same baby, just as likely to soil another diaper.  You can change a politician, but it’s still the same system, just as likely to take your money and leave you holding another empty promise.  If you keep on doing the same thing while expecting something different — well, you know the drill.  If we are just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic — well, you can guess what’s next.  We need to distinguish among cosmetic change, maintenance change, promised change, delivered change, elemental change, and paradigmatic change.  How about potty-training the baby?  How about a new political paradigm?
