Oxymoron

Nobody asked but …

We keep trying to make a silk purse of a sow’s ear, ie, voting for good and getting evil.

Someone asked if we should now ignore all elections in which shady acts were performed.  We will never own up to the bargain we make for the unattainable.

One pundit suggested that we should limit government to the safety of its citizens and the protection of private property.  This is the oxymoron, that which is “something (such as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements,” per Merriam Webster.

The central element of our oxymoron is good government.  This comes from our simpleton wish to have our cake and eat it too.   Let’s have good government, for free, and not attractive to the greedy.

I once commented to my teenage granddaughter, we get to vote for our Senator once in 6 years while special interests get to contribute dollars to him everyday, 365 days a year.
