Not to be Confused with Permissive Parenting

There are many false dichotomies in our culture. Too many. It’s human nature to simplify things in our brain. If it’s not one thing then it’s the other. If you don’t have conservative ideals then you must be liberal. If you’re not a man, you’re a woman. If you’re not rich, you’re poor. In the back of our minds we know everything isn’t black and white, but our minds choose to see that so we don’t have to process all the color at once. When presenting my parenting ideals with others I see this a lot. You’re against punishments and consequences? Well, then you must be a permissive parent. Woah, calm down guys! Remember that rainbow? I promise you, this is that. It’s beautiful, magical, and greatly improves your life, mmkay? I wouldn’t share this message if I didn’t think so!
