Immigration controls mean a government-issued license for work and residency, which is a practice right out of the Soviet Union. They also did a lot of ethnic cleansing and forced population transfers, in the name of the supposed collective good.
Sorry, the idea that someone might use welfare in a way that you disagree with or vote in a way that you disagree with is no reason at all to advocate a far-reaching internal system of passports and licenses which reach into all sectors of the economy.
