It’s easy to get into a mode of inaction, but building the Action Habit can be a lot more difficult. The reason is that the feedback loops in our lives are set up the wrong way: it’s easier to put things off than to act, it’s easier to seek comfort than to push into discomfort, fear and stress.

Top 10 Books for Empowering Yourself as a Mother
Once I realized so many of the messages I recieved as a young girl and teenager didn’t serve me or make sense as an adult, I dove deep into books that rocked my world. I love books for this reason. They can offer a fresh new perspective and change the way you view and approach reality. One book can be a total paradigm shift for you. I have read several such books, and that is what I want to offer you here.
Some Refreshing Honesty about the Purpose of Mass Schooling
These school posters explicitly reveal the troubling reality that mass schooling retains its 19th-century roots as a system of social control. Originally designed to bring order to an increasingly diverse population, the industrial model of mass schooling continues to impose order by encouraging compliance, rewarding conformity and eliminating individuality.
Homeschoolers: The Enemy of Forced Schooling
Holt observed through his years of teaching, and recorded in his many books, that the deepest, most meaningful, most enduring learning is the kind of learning that is self-determined. As “the enemy,” we homeschoolers reject the increasing grip of mass schooling.
Stop Lying about Laws Applying
I engaged in an instructive Facebook conversation recently. I approached it Socratically at first, but ended it with some food for thought (pun intended). Here it is in full, edited for presentation. The topic is the applicability of government laws as it concerns the food vendor that was robbed by campus police recently.
The Media Can’t Be Trusted

The media is nothing more than the public relations department of the state, and every story (from the tales of local constables rounding up farmers and entrepreneurs in the “war on drugs” to the stories of courageous warriors “protecting our freedom” through the mass slaughter known as the “war on terror”) are all designed to mollify the fears and concerns of the gutless sheep who refuse to recognize their true enemy.
What’s Wrong with the Thrive/Survive Theory of Left and Right
Many people in my circles now seem to take Thrive/Survive Theory as the default position; if it’s not true, it’s still the story to beat. But to be blunt, I find essentially no value in it. It’s not always wrong, but it’s about as right as you’d expect from chance.
5 Ways Mothers Give Away their Power
This isn’t about convincing anyone to do things my way (how boring a world that would be!). But if you don’t know that you have choices beyond the mainstream world, then you aren’t actually making decisions from a place of truth and desire. You are living on autopilot and not considering the impact of living a life in accordance to the status quo, whose only agenda is to keep you relying on it. So what do I mean by giving away power?
Absurd Reactions to Disasters
Imagine that, following the earth being hit by a giant asteroid, the government mandated that every person must wear a helmet and carry a shield whenever they were outside of a building as a means of protecting themselves against the threat of future asteroid strikes.
Arbitrary Rules are Harmful
Stay in the habit of evaluating each and every rule you encounter. Follow or reject them based on reality, not on whether someone decided to make them up and impose them on others.
