Nobody asked but …
I live on a country lane and I’ve driven its length thousands of times. But something that I noticed today is something that I have not noticed most of those other times. There was litter on the roadway and the byway. But in most other respects it is a beautiful way to travel so I tuned out the litter pretty quickly.
As voluntaryists, we need to tune out incidental clutter, while not losing the essence. Mine is a beautiful country lane on a creek’s banks. From time to time, high water may bring detritus, but it gets cleaned up — mostly by those of us who live there.
Nature makes this a country lane by a stream. If I see a styrofoam cup, I’ll pick it up. I’ll not forget that I live streamside on a country road.
