“For the sake of our safety, it’s necessary to have government agents initiating force against entire categories of people, limiting the individual freedom of many based upon what some of those people are likely to do in the future.”
Author: Larken Rose
Larken Rose is an anarchist author best known for challenging the IRS to answer questions about the federal tax liability of citizens, and being put in prison with no questions answered. He is the author of The Most Dangerous Superstition.
Making the Whole World Idiot-Proof
Not only do busy-body “government” bureaucrats think it’s their job to babysit and control everyone “for their own good,” but most of the peasants seem to agree.
Offended by an Intended Victim
If it hurts your feelings to have voluntaryists point out that it’s bad for you to be cheering for widespread violent aggression, then maybe you should stop doing that!
Relying on Thugs for Protection
It would be pretty much impossible to determine this accurately, but it would be nice to know how many people have died in the U.S. as a result of them being taught for all of their lives to “call the authorities” if something bad is happening, instead of “taking the law into their own hands.”
The Education System Works!
One of the main proponents of that system (Johann Gottlieb Fichte) openly described the purpose of the system as follows: “Education should aim at destroying free will so that after pupils are thus schooled they will be incapable throughout the rest of their lives of thinking or acting otherwise than as their schoolmasters would have wished.”
Private Crooks vs. Public Crooks
Maybe pickpockets who mostly do petty theft are out robbing people on a daily basis, of smaller amounts, but most thieves and aggressors do not commit their crimes all that regularly. For many it’s very rare, for some just a one-time thing. Now compare that to the thieves and aggressors who work for the state.
Helplessness Is Not a Virtue, Either
It still strikes me as odd when I see people expressing pride in the fact that they are not armed. As if that’s a virtue, or a sign of moral superiority. They’re basically saying, “I’m just so noble and awesome, because if armed thugs attack me or my family, I can’t do a damn thing about it!”
Cowardice is Not a Virtue
First and foremost, pushing a “legislative” solution always amounts to condoning a violent solution. “Laws” are not polite suggestions; they are threats of force. “Gun control,” while usually framed in vague, euphemistic terms by its proponents, is gun violence. It is politicians threatening to send men with guns after any mere peasant who possesses something that the masters say they are not allowed to possess.
“Competent, Badass Cops” is Utter Bullshit
So the police have been given all sorts of new “legislative” powers in recent years, including being able to spy on all sorts of communications, as well as being given all sorts of weapons of war, to the point where “law enforcement” is essentially a standing army. Then it takes them over an hour to get around to breaching the door of the alleged shooter in Las Vegas.
Outcome-Based Reasoning
“National ‘borders’ is a state-created concept, and therefore any ‘policy’ about those borders–including the policy of not violently stopping people from crossing–is a ‘government program.’ Therefore, ‘open borders’ is just as statist as ‘closed borders.'”
