If there’s a constant in human nature over the millenia that we have existed, it’s this: you will allow voice, or you will get violence. Free speech is arguably the greatest liberty we have in terms of its capabilities to speak truth to power and topple status quos. Hence its the first liberty to be forcefully removed by the powers that be who profit so richly from certain ideas remaining en vogue.

Death Penalty for Drug Dealers? Be Careful What You Wish For, President Trump
As a major league drug dealer, perhaps Trump is taking his cue from the murderous cartels of Colombia and Mexico. Now that he has the entirety of federal law enforcement and the US armed forces at his beck and call, why not just kill his competitors? Pablo Trumpobar, anyone? El Trumpo?
Continuity
I have encountered two very interesting concepts recently. They are both implied by this observation from Henri-Louis Bergson: “The present contains nothing more than the past, and what is found in the effect was already in the cause.” So there is, according to Bergson, a continuity in the connectivity among past, present, and future.
The Responsibility of Gun Ownership
As a gun owner, you don’t have the responsibility to surrender your rights just because some evil loser murdered people. You don’t have the responsibility to act as though anti-gun bigots, or their demands, are reasonable. You don’t have the responsibility to obey counterfeit “laws”. You have the responsibility to not harm the innocent. I know you are already living up to your responsibility.
Illegal If Invented Today – Cars, Danger, Trust, and Innovation
I was driving to work today when I realized how nonchalantly I was piloting my land-speeding hunk of aluminum. Cars are extraordinary, complex, and dangerous machines, but most of us can drive them comfortably and without much second thought. That’s extraordinary. Then I though “There’s no way these things would be allowed if they were invented today.”
Encourage Ideas
First of all, encourage yourself to have ideas. If you have 1 idea a day, at the end of a year you will have had 365 ideas. What are the probabilities that none of those ideas are worthwhile? What are the probabilities that self-ordering will not restrict those bad ideas from happening.
