Statism has a thin, shiny scale of pretty-looking ethics hiding the evil beneath. It’s sort of like nail polish on an infected, fungal fingernail.

America’s Sharia Law
Sharia law is no more obscene than most of the counterfeit laws in America. Kidnapping and murdering people over plants? Or chemicals? Or because they refuse to facilitate their own muggings? “Laws” based on what people claim their god wants?
What Should Liberland Firearms Policy Look Like?
Liberland is widely touted as a libertarian state. The motto, “To live and let live,” supports this idea. Liberland.org notes that “Liberland prides itself on personal and economic freedom of its people.” The current draft of the Constitution of the Free Republic of Liberland includes a guarantee of personal firearms freedom. Let’s consider libertarian gun policy objectively, and then we’ll see how Liberland stacks up to this ideal.
You Are Surrounded by Alternate Universes
I don’t see a lot of evidence for the actual existence of alternate universes. That sort of thing seems to be beyond the possibility of proving, almost by definition. But there is a metaphorical sense in which choices add up to make alternate universes. We get to see the results of the choices we didn’t make in the other people who did make them. In other words, other people = alternate universes.
A Response to Bruce the Anti-Libertarian
I ran across a letter to the editor written in response to a libertarian’s letter. This raving statist’s letter was a treat to behold. Rarely have I witnessed this much dishonesty in such a small space. Kudos to him!

The Voluntaryist Ethnicity
As my family has traveled the country and met or stayed with other voluntaryists and unschoolers, I can’t help but notice certain general customs among people and families of this kind. Without putting anybody in a box or limiting how it is expressed or experienced, here is the voluntaryist ethnicity as I’ve seen it.
Statists’ Greatest Fear
I know many people are scared out of their minds at the thought of liberty. They fight against it every way they can think of, and work hard to try to make others as fearful as they are.
Violence
Self-defense or defense of property can be violent but isn’t aggressive since the other party “started it” by initiating force or violating property rights.
“Pacifism”
I oppose aggression in all its forms. I am not a pacifist. The very thought sickens me. I’ve known people who said they were pacifists, and if that’s what they want I’m not going to insist they change. But pacifism seems like a rejection of responsibility.
