Does Philosophy Apply?

Nobody asked but …

“Another reason for studying philosophy is that it provides a good way of learning to think more clearly about a wide range of issues.” — Nigel Warburton

And what could be a wider question, to humans, than the difference between being self-owned versus subordinate to others.  I say that the difference is between those who have pursued philosophy enough to understand the inevitability of self-ownership and those who have not.  I don’t know what thought process leads one to the latter conclusion, but I would never call it philosophy — a love of wisdom.  It seems to me that one who would be subservient has abandoned wisdom.  One does not need to be the wisest of the wise to love knowledge more than being mastered.
