I was just watching some edgy songs (at the time) from the 1980s and I realized that something very disturbing has happened to counter culture. Fighting “the man” used to be venerated in certain circles. Media outlets praised it. Most interesting music revolves around it. Humor was largely based on it. Teenage slang was antiestablishment. Every bully parent were people pushing the norms on a kid that wanted to be different. Today, Antiestablishment media is not allowed.

Harvard Study: An Epidemic of Loneliness Is Spreading Across America

Loneliness among Americans has been growing in recent years, but the policy response to the COVID-19 pandemic has drastically exacerbated the problem. A new report by Harvard University researchers finds that 36 percent of Americans are experiencing “serious loneliness,” and some groups, such as young adults and mothers with small children, are especially isolated.

Political “Unity” is Neither Necessary Nor Desirable

“[T]o restore the soul and to secure the future of America,” President Joe Biden said in his inaugural speech, “requires more than words. It requires that most elusive of things in a democracy: Unity. … This is our historic moment of crisis and challenge, and unity is the path forward.” The bad news:  Where politics is concerned, “unity” is a pipe dream.
