On March 26, 2020, at the once excellent but now mostly defunct website Daily Anarchist, Seth King broke almost five years of silence by publishing a piece that contained the following statement: “I don’t think libertarians, be they minimalists or anarcho-capitalists, are ever going to realize their dreams in this life. Freedom just isn’t popular.” Unfortunately, I’m inclined to concur.

Insurance Photos, Morning Stretches, & Emotion Venting (16m) – Episode 022
Episode 022 looks at taking photos and video of your home for insurance purposes; rotating out to donation old stuff that you’ve replaced with new stuff; stretching in the mornings to help yourself wake up, and putting your sleep alarm at the other end of the room; why you should always answer “yes” to someone at your door asking if you have a security system; and why it’s important to never ignore your feelings or thoughts.
Big-Spending Trump
When Donald Trump ran for president, he promised “big league” spending cuts. Once in office, he again said he’d cut the budget, adding, “There’s a lot of fat in there.” There sure is.
The Desire for Purpose verse The Betterment of Others
I don’t give progressives, socialists and generally left-wing people the pass others often do. These people are rarely well-intentioned. I can only give this pass to very young or very naive people. The emotional dynamics in the minds of these people lead them to seek purpose and validity in others, most often others that are…
The “Election Interference” Fearmongers Think You’re Stupid
Xi Jinping and Ali Khamenei prefer Joe Biden to Donald Trump. Vladimir Putin prefers Donald Trump to Joe Biden. That’s according to William Evanina, Director of the US National Counterintelligence and Security Center. “Many foreign actors,” he says, “have a preference for who wins the election, which they express through a range of overt and … Continue reading The “Election Interference” Fearmongers Think You’re Stupid →

Riotous Looting, Police Brutality, Qualified Immunity, and Raising Adults (37m) – Episode 337
Episode 337 has Skyler giving his commentary on the following topics: outsourcing security to an institution who claims not to have a duty to provide it leads to riotous looting; police brutality is a problem of authoritarianism, not racism; the abolition of qualified immunity in his lifetime; putting the focus as parents on raising adults, not on raising kids; and more.
“Peak Libertarianism?” No, Thom Hartmann is Just a Sore Winner
“We have now reached peak Libertarianism,” Thom Hartmann informs us at CounterPunch, “and this bizarre experiment that has been promoted by the billionaire class for over 40 years is literally killing us.” That claim is so bizarre on its face that it’s easy to dismiss. On the other hand, even the craziest claims can fool people if nobody takes the time to debunk them.
A Modest Proposal for Compromise on “Confederate” Military Bases
Don’t rename those “Confederate” bases. Instead, shut them down. Completely. Move or destroy the weapons, move or discharge the troops, and sell the real estate (with contract clauses forbidding use of the bases’ names or namesakes in subsequent uses).
My Upcoming Debate with the Harvard Professor Who Wants a “Presumptive Ban” on Homeschooling
When I told my 13-year-old homeschooled daughter that I would be participating in an upcoming debate with the Harvard professor who recommends a “presumptive ban” on homeschooling, she asked incredulously, “Why would anyone want to prevent people from homeschooling?”
