Telling kids “Don’t run!” is a waste of breath, and causes frustration for everyone. I understand the reasons for it, but I also see that it is completely pointless, and probably counter-productive.

Of course the climate changes. If it didn’t, it would be nothing at all. Of course humans affect climate change. We eat, sleep, move, mate, defecate — did we think those were processes that have no input, no output, and no by product?

For an adult who wasn’t taught to identify their emotions and own them as their own, spanking or swatting is, unfortunately, the easiest way to respond to a child who has triggered us. We are literally being exactly like a child when we hit. We are in our child minds because we were not taught a better way.
