I don’t yet know a great deal about the revelations of offshore financial maneuvers, but I am intriqued. I am going to follow the stories of the Paradise Papers and the Panama Papers more closely.

Voluntary Aggression
Back around the Turn of the Millennium (Y2K), when I became aware in a formal sense of my voluntaryism, my libertarianism, my adherence to the NAP/ZAP (Non-Aggression Principle/Zero Aggression Principle), my recognition that 99.99999% of the Universe functions under anarchy, I also became aware that I needed to reconcile some of my cherished childhood beliefs.
Mission Creep II
Schooling is growing in every direction. And at the same time, it is stifling the growth of its so-called beneficiaries. Once again, process overcomes product. Schooling is destroying education.
Mongoose
In Hawaii, in the late 19th Century, Mongooses were imported to rid the sugar cane fields of rats. Now the mongooses are overwhelming, reducing populations of birds and turtles, and domestic cats! The mongoose tale is still a bit exotic, but the story is most often demonstrated where government is the mongoose.
Words Poorly Used #117 — Apology
Nowadays, third parties such as pundits bully the supposed aggressor into making a statement of apology to the supposed injured party, where more often than not the bully has imagined some substantial class of people for whom the apology must do multiple duty.
Status Symbol II
To make a long story short, numbers of SUVs dictate numbers of lowslung European racing cars. Porsche is trying to jigger numbers filed with bureaucrats, and unintended consequences arise again.
The News
Objectivity would require looking at the broader environment in which broadcast news competes for public attention. The news isn’t fake; it’s just rarely whole and pure.
The Rule of Law
Today, I attended the second of half a dozen Lifelong Learning classes on the Bill of Rights of the U. S. Constitution. After four hours, we students are still on the First Amendment, Freedom of Religion clause. And after 100 years, we citizens are still stuck with the phrase, “clear and present danger.”
Freedom as Physics
“Freedom is the capacity to pause in the face of stimuli from many directions at once and, in this pause, to throw one’s weight toward this response rather than that one.”
Status Symbol
I saw a Porsche SUV today. Now I’m really confused. Either the driver had a tremendous , if off-the-wall, sense of humor, or there is for sure somebody out there more confused than me.
