Doing things like starting a business or pursuing a career in the arts is usually regarded as selfish and greedy. And even when we do support the people who pursue these things, we’re still hesitant to think of them as revolutionaries and freedom-fighters in the same way that we’d think of politicians and philanthropist.

Police Are Not a Race, They’re a Gang
Police wake up each and every day and make the choice to enforce harmful and arbitrary “laws” against people in exchange for money stolen from their victims. It’s not about the cop as a person, it is about the aggression and theft they commit as a condition of keeping the “job.” But, the fact a person would choose to do that shows something very important about their character.
Acceptance vs. Tolerance
Acceptance is one of your greatest sources of Power. Without it, you couldn’t receive or own anything, handle unexpected change, or listen effectively. But acceptance is not the same as tolerance.
10 Points that the Pro-Spanking Crowd Totally Missed
Instead of addressing everyone’s comment individually, I will just write a post responding to all the defenses of spanking children. Which is pretty easy because there are only a handful that I hear over and over again. My hope is that I can shed a little more light on this topic and help radically shift the mindset that these people seem to be deeply conditioned in.
Being Scared of the Unknown
A lot of people’s fear about the idea of a stateless society isn’t even about a lack of “government,” so much as it is a fear of “something-that’s-not-familiar-to-me.” Most of the questions about “how will this work?” just come from people having a hard time picturing something they’ve never seen.
Words Poorly Used #82 — Process
Process overwhelms purpose. We wanted to live in a world free of crime, so we asked the state to make that guarantee, now we are guaranteed the abuses of crime and the abuses of the state. Substitute any antonym for a “public good” for which we have whored ourselves, and the statement holds.
A Dumb Cultural Narrative
No longer are people concerned with overt racism nor dignity of the individual. Today we are focused on the original sin of whites, the covert racism that leads to inequality of results, victim/predator narratives, cultural appropriation, etc.
Statists are So Boring
I’m getting less and less interested in responding to statists’ objections. Their objections are boring. Mostly because their objections never change. Recycled endlessly by people who don’t know their “new” objection has been addressed (and obliterated) over and over again–over the centuries.
Deep Empathy is Overwhelming
The great task that awaits the individual who becomes secure in his identity… is to share that identity with others. You need to know with every bit of who you are that you are not alone in the world. Consider deeply, for a moment, what that implies about how you interact with other people.
I Reject the Right of the Government to Choose My Friends and Enemies for Me
From time immemorial, the reigning myth of rule has been that the rulers provide a quid pro quo: in exchange for the people’s submission and payment of tribute, the rulers protect the people from the enemies who lurk “out there.” The promise was often unfulfilled, however.
