Down with Partisan Politics

October 2, 2017 Robert Higgs

I find partisan politics disgusting, even repulsive for many reasons. Perhaps the most important is that it rests from A to Z on dishonesty and fraud.

Against Leviathan

Nothing Short of Wanton Cruelty

September 26, 2017 Robert Higgs

I’m for separation of church and state, separation of school and state, separation of sports and state — hell, I’m actually for separation of human beings and state across the board.

Against Leviathan

Which is More Unsettling?

September 25, 2017 Robert Higgs

The alternatives would appear to reduce to the following two: (1) Trump is an ignoramus and an obnoxious, repellent buffoon; and (2) he is not such a person but he plays one on TV — and on Twitter and in the presidency.

Against Leviathan

You Can’t Go Home Again, but . . .

September 22, 2017September 22, 2017 Robert Higgs

Today, when I buy a cantaloupe brought to me in the far reaches of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, I immediately feel a link to my boyhood and relive at least for a few moments the youthful joys of that long-ago time and place.

The Turmoil and Suffering from the Transition to Freedom

September 20, 2017 Robert Higgs

When people consider a genuine transition to a free society, many always speculate that the turmoil and suffering of such a transition would be so horrible that no humane person would wish to bring it about.

Against Leviathan

Incapable of Sustaining Their Tender Egos

September 9, 2017 Robert Higgs

After I was graduated from high school in 1961 and went off to the Coast Guard Academy and then to a series of civilian colleges and universities, I had the idea — which was common in those days — that I was an adult. That is, college was for adults, not kids.

Against Leviathan

To Walk Around in Public without a Straight Jacket

September 6, 2017 Robert Higgs

Trump threatens to cut off all trade with any nation that trades with North Korea. That includes China. Trump is an imbecile. Next thing you know, he’ll threaten to nuke the USA to demonstrate his manhood to Kim Jong-un.

Against Leviathan

The Person Who Kills Millions is a National Hero

September 5, 2017 Robert Higgs

Are you ever struck by the number of ultra-criminal individuals — people who have great amounts of blood on their hands — who are not only not in prison, not only permitted to move about freely in society, but are treated as decent individuals and, on some occasions, feted as great and honorable ones?

Against Leviathan

Everywhere, the Same Sort of Thugs

September 4, 2017 Robert Higgs

It’s interesting, and telling, that although cities and other political units differ greatly across the USA, they all have rotten, overbearing police departments.

Against Leviathan

Don’t Want to Live in a Free Society

September 3, 2017 Robert Higgs

People want creature comforts; they want entertainment; and they want the illusion of security, which the government supplies.
