Trump Has Been Mostly Ineffectual
The election of Trump effected people’s lives in incredibly minor ways. As far as legislation, executive orders, war, and other such stuff … little has been done. He hasn’t commanded change or anything else, despite how effectively he might poke some people in the eye. I am sure some people will think this is because of how veracious the opposition has been, however, I think it is mainly because he lacks a thoughtful philosophy and he is too much of an opportunist. To make change in this sort of realm, you have to spend a lot of political and social capital and I don’t think that Trump is built for that.
As someone who thinks Trump is ineffectual, I have been able to largely ignore what others have been offended by. Trump is only significant in what he represents in the people who vote for him, but he isn’t significant in inspiring actual change in any intentional way. So, this clown show has been mildly entertaining for me and I’ve had no significant worries about any real downside inspired by his actions. In fact, he has been surprisingly restrained in what he does have significant and long term effects over, like war (though he isn’t particularly good).
At a certain level I have kind of hoped Trump would win reelection. Most of the eyes he pokes I like seeing poked. However, I have been concerned of the brewing response/counter movement to him. I wonder if his incredibly ineffectiveness mixed with his brash personality empowers progressives, neocons and the bureaucratic state without actually accomplishing anything in return. Is Trump just riling up the bees without even getting any honey?
I’m starting to think that the only joy someone can get in Trump is in pissing people off. However, I fail to see how this accomplishes anything. I think Trump losing might actually be better for things. That being said, I am concerned that we only get relaxation and to live our lives somewhat peacefully when Democrats hold the reigns of power … I am not sure continually electing them is a good idea, but it almost seems as if the incentives are created to make people dislike the social angst during republican presidencies.
In the long run, I guess I have no idea what is good for people. The future is too uncertain. I guess the lesson is to not vote and try to escape the political clown show.
