On Voluntaryists II

It should be obvious to all why Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War was a villain: he is a coercivist, not a voluntaryist. Coercivists who identify problems prefer solutions which are coercive, aggressive, or violent. There’s little thought given to non-violent solutions. In the case of the problem identified by Thanos, that consumers of resources far outweigh the available resources, in all the universe, there comes to mind many voluntaryist based solutions. With the infinity stones and gauntlet, Thanos could have brought knowledge of renewable energy and optimal resource management to the masses. He could have doubled the available resources by doubling the available life supporting planets and star systems and galaxies in the universe. Even force-sterilizing half to 3/4 of all life would have been less violent and less disruptive than mass murder, and accomplished the same goal. Ecosystems and economies feature natural ways of finding balance when resource levels drop below preferable levels. Thanos simply wasn’t interested in anything but conquest. What about you? And that’s today’s two cents.
