Factory Schools

Nobody asked but …

“District loses full grade of students in decade” — headline in local newspaper.

One sometimes wonders what planet these school admins came from.  They are so focused on growing the system that they don’t realize there are other, independent trends unrelated to their process-bound goals.

Admins from the eras of youth population surges (such as the baby boom and the boomer’s baby boom) somehow get lulled into thinking that numbers correlate with popular approval of the school system.

I am not surprised by the above headline.  It is a function of the lemming urge to build ever more huge factory schools.  I am no more surprised than I would be by a headline that read, “Disgruntled, banished ex-student returns, fatally shoots 17.”
