Corporate Greed

Nobody asked but …

There is no such thing as corporate greed, even though the politicos greedily gobbling up time, energy, and news space would have us believe that it is so.  First of all, a corporation is a legal fiction.  And, it has a legal property that causes much confusion — the concept of a corporation includes that it has another fiction, a standing in the law.  Because a corporation can do this, like a human, people often ascribe other human characteristics to it.

I believe the actual purpose of corporations is to protect humans from the law.  But I’m just saying.  The real challenge for the legislators is to make the corporation immune to human malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance.

So when humans accuse corporations of being greedy it is a “sticks and stones” kind of deal.  There is no way to prove any property derived from human emotion.  Political wannabes never have to prove, walk back, or even revisit such nebulous invective.  It is all for effect.
