Censorship is Never the Solution

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

When racist opinions (or bigotry, communism, statism, etc.) are censored, the result is not to change these opinions but to reinforce them.

The narrative of division—whether based on race, religion, class, or something else—is actually strengthened when we attempt to silence opinions we find offensive or erroneous.

Don’t grant these opinions such an exalted status. Ideas are not independently dangerous. Instead, embrace free speech in all contexts and allow these toxic opinions to encounter the disinfectant of full disclosure and open discussion.

Censorship is never the solution.
