Words Poorly Used #131 — Rich

Apparently, many in the media, referring to certain people, Manafort, for instance, as “rich,” confuse lifestyle with net worth.  They would likewise have described Madoff, before his apprehension, as “rich” without recognizing he was spending illicit credit.  It is the same delusional thinking that places the USA at the top of the world financial pyramid.  Any country — no matter how small — with even a nickel of net positive balance or even less than trillions of deficit is richer than the USA.
