The Truth Comes

Nobody asked but …

The truth comes as conqueror only because we have lost the art of receiving it as guest.
— Rabindranath Tagore

The truth does not break natural laws to come upon us unforeseen.  If the truth is unforeseen, it is because we did not look.  In order to treat the truth as a guest, each of us must prepare ourselves with a wisdom about how the world works, with a practical knowledge of what is likely and probable.  The truth cannot be other than the truth.  Falsehoods can have a million faces.

— Kilgore Forelle
