Outcome-Based Reasoning

Here is a fine example of “outcome-based reasoning” that I’ve seen from a number of border-fetish closet statists:

“National ‘borders’ is a state-created concept, and therefore any ‘policy’ about those borders–including the policy of not violently stopping people from crossing–is a ‘government program.’ Therefore, ‘open borders’ is just as statist as ‘closed borders.'”

That is how scared pseudo-anarchists engage in mental gymnastics, fishing for an excuse to justify the authoritarian violence that they think might serve their interests. No, refraining from threatening violence is not an act of “government” aggression. Duh.

And arguments like that also show the desperation which fear can create in people’s minds, to the point where they will argue things that the average five-year-old would be ashamed to argue.

“Well me not beating up the other kid on the playground, and not stealing his lunch money, is still me deciding whether to do that, so that’s not any better than me deciding I should beat him up and take his money! So I might as well take his stuff.”
