On “Well I Was Spanked…”

The oft heard “rebuttal” to the anti-spanking position is something like, “Well I was spanked, and I turned out okay.” While research shows that this is likely not the case, one big clue that things are not okay is that the one offering this rebuttal believes it’s okay to assault children. Spanking is hitting and hitting is assault. You hit an adult, you get charged with a felony. You hit a child, you get a “job well done,” apparently. So long as you don’t own other human beings, and you don’t, nobody does, legitimately, you can’t hit them because they displease or annoy you. That’s assault, and just plain wrong. And that’s today’s two cents.
