On Forced Chemotherapy

What if your daughter were sick and so-called “experts” were telling you that she needed to drink cyanide, but you understood cyanide to be poison, and these experts are foreign to you and your way of life? You don’t know them, their credentials, how or why anyone considers them experts, and they’re telling you that you need to give your daughter something that you believe will bring her harm, probably kill her, or she’ll die anyway. You’d rightly consider them lunatics and pass on their recommendation. But then they get another group of people, people with big shiny guns, to kidnap your daughter and bring her to them in order to administer to her their poison. Both you and your daughter would rightly consider this an evil, criminal act. Regardless of what these experts believe, do they have the right to kidnap your daughter and give her what they believe will save her life? Do they have the right to disregard both hers and your wishes and through their greater power coerce your daughter’s participation? Absolutely not! I don’t care if it’s something seemingly poisonous, leeches, or chemotherapy, nobody has the right to force a child to accept something they and their parents don’t want, at the point of a gun. If you believe it will save my daughter’s life, convince us of it with persuasion. The moment you introduce force is the moment you become a bigger threat than the disease, because if one were to sufficiently resist he would be instantly gunned down by your jack-booted thugs. And that’s today’s two cents.

Skyler.
