Mission Creep II

Nobody asked but …

Schooling is growing in every direction. And at the same time, it is stifling the growth of its so-called beneficiaries. Once again, process overcomes product. Schooling is destroying education. Processing is eating the young. Pre-school is a cleverly misnamed extension toward the cradle. Adult education is never letting go. Senior programs administered by the state are pablum. I, myself, participate in a lifelong learning program which promotes motor skills and social events over content. The university that houses us controls what, how, and why, as much as possible — to the grave. In the halls of academe, the paper chase broadens under the misleading label of “higher education” — funded by the state wearing the regalia of the likes of the National Science Foundation.
