Nobody asked but …

Alexis de Tocqueville wrote:

Laws are always unstable unless they are founded on the manners of a nation; and manners are the only durable and resisting power in a people.

Manners are human nature.  De Tocqueville warns us that laws and law administration, which go against human nature are unstable.  A bull in a china shop is unstable.

Instability produces consequences, often widespread breakage.  Breakage, a sort of equilibrium, is a usual outcome of instability.

So, Mr. Attorney General, do your damnedest.  The lesson will be taught … once again.
