When Control is Your Predominant Motivation

Most humans have no desire for people to be independent. They only want them to be independent once they share their values. This perpetuates an individual’s power over someone and perpetuates a person’s views and culture. There are examples of this all over our culture. Religion wants you to be obedient, but also strong minded and independent when not in church. Feminists, parents, political parties, cults, I can go for a while.

It isn’t wrong to desire influence over people’s ideas and life, it’s pretty natural. However, once you are asking/demanding subservience, obedience, and pliability, it is a subtle acknowledgement that your ideas and personal value don’t stand on their own merit and the desire for Control is your predominant motivation.
